Fly Ball Communication

Fly Ball Communication

We will use the term "MINE" to call for a fly ball and nothing else. Each position will use a certain number of "Mines." That way players will not have to take their eye off of the ball, they will understand who they are hearing, and they can manage the flyball hierarchy safely and effectively. This slide show exhibits the number of "Mines" for each position.

The only additional on-field language we will add to this is when an infielder calls for a ball as they are running into the outfield. If the outfielder knows he (himself) cannot get there, he will yell "Take it, take it!" This way the infielder will feel safe maintaining speed, and even making a dive if necessary, without worrying about a collision with the outfielder.

Thor: third baseman charges

Falcon: first baseman charges

Batman: Both corner infielders charge the bunt

Tandems / Relay 3

Tandem Relays

We will utilize this moving artillery on balls batted past the outfielders, or what we consider automatic doubles. The middle infielders act as a moving artillery, lined to third base, that can fire to any bag.
